M Shafik Gabr, Chairman & Managing Director of ARTOC Group for Investment & Development has accepted an invitation to make a pledge on behalf of ARTOC to the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem (AFEDJ) to assist with a specialized psycho-social program in Gaza. The project which is run from the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, specifically identifies the need for supporting those who have suffered psychological damage from the ongoing conflict in the region.

AFEDJ have recognized that it is the women within the most vulnerable families who are in the position of trust whereby they become the primary carers in terms of the emotional needs of a fragile population. The service is therefore direct to these women, to assist them help their families in coping with the extreme stress of all aspects of war.

Suhaila Tarazi, Director of the Ali Arab Hospital has commented “The emphasis on women is based on the observation that women are the most likely to carry the psychological healing methods home to their husbands and children, benefiting the entire family”.

The sponsorship of the program will contribute to funding the training essential to delivery this support and offers one long term and sustainable solution to an ongoing problem in the region.
